Policing:
There will be dedicated teams of officers working on England game days that will be out in CMK before the game, during and for a period of time after, this does not affect the normal Operation Devolve that is in CMK Friday and Saturday nights. This will happen on each England game if they progress past the group stages.
On England game days SaferMK will also be giving out freebies in CMK including flip flops, mints and stickers to support the We Support Lads that don’t fight Campaign.
Their will also be a ‘Safe Space’ running out of the Groove night club in the Theatre District, with St Johns Ambulance on the last Saturday of each month starting 29th May from 2200 – 0400. It will also run on 12th and 18th from 1600 – 0000 and on 23rd from 1500 – 2100. Bottles of water will also be handed out to revellers.
SaferMK Campaign:
To support those enjoying the festivities in CMK, SaferMK are launching a new campaign ‘I support lads that don’t fight’.
The aim is to let lads know that girls want them to be the bigger person by walking away from trouble. Girls don’t find drunken violence attractive in any way, it just ruins everybody’s night out and can end in someone being seriously hurt or worse. Maria Strolia, was selected to be the face of the campaign by the general public in Milton Keynes and she will be touring bars and clubs in the city handing out giveaways to reinforce the ‘I support lads that don’t fight’ message on Saturday 12th June, venues are also supporting the campaign by getting their staff to wear the campaign T-Shirts on the nights of the England games. Giveaways and bottles of water will be handed out as part of the campaign.
After8 Pee Pod:
Also, running from the 12th June to the 3rd July every Friday and Saturday night will be the After8 Pee Pod, designed to offer drinkers a safe and convenient place to relieve themselves at the end of the evening when venue facilities are not available. The urinal Pee Pod will be located on the outskirts of the Theatre District between the grassed area and Avebury Boulevard. Don’t be caught short!
