Midsummer Place
On Sunday 14th February, Valentine’s Day, Midsummer Place will be spreading the love amongst shoppers by playing a huge selection of love song classics, chosen by the public. Theatre District
On 14th February the Milton Keynes City Orchestra will visit Bella Italia, Zizzi, Ortega and TGI Fridays during the evening to serenade diners with classical music. The string quartet will play out on the District between 7pm and 7.30pm (weather dependant) and then will split into duos and spend the rest of the evening moving to the above restaurants.
The Taipan are offering a set menu for the valentines evening, plus it is also Chinese New Year on the 14th so it promises to be a special night. They are, however, officially celebrating the New Year with their annual Lion Dance on the 19th February, so make sure you book now to enjoy this spectacular. Xscape
From Saturday 13th – Sunday 21st February, Xscape becomes the home to all things decadent. Temptation is an art installation, based around the world of the salacious. From 12pm daily till 6pm, customers can succumb to temptation, and peer into the giant Burlesque birdcage in the mall, as well as standing back and enjoying entertainment that’s both enthralling and bizarre. MK Gallery
The current exhibition is Marcus Coates: Psychopomp this is the first survey of his work in a public gallery in the UK and it includes early film pieces, sculpture, sound, costumes and photographs as well as new work running until 4th April. MK Forum Meeting
MK Forum is holding a meeting on Monday, 15th February at 7.30pm to look at the draft ‘New Residential Development Design Guide’ Supplementary Planning Guidance Document, which is currently out for consultation. A presentation will be made by an officer from MK Council which will be followed by an open discussion.
The meeting is being held in the main lecture theatre at the City Discovery Centre, Bradwell Abbey, MK19 9AP. For further information please contact Stuart Turner (st@studiost.co.uk)
Infrastructure Project in Milton Keynes
New Coach Station and Park n’ Ride at J14
The coach station is set to open in spring, and is now taking shape. A key aspect of the building design is the roof canopy which is nearing completion and will provide a covered seated area for passengers taking coaches, local buses and taxis.
