Jane Palmer, Chief Executive
My predecessor, Ellen Clark, spent eight years establishing Age Concern Milton Keynes as a strong force within the community and I would like formally to thank her for the time, energy and huge commitment she put into reaching our aim of building The Peartree Centre. Last year, Ellen decided to move on to other things and we all wish her the very best for the future.
With the Peartree Centre fully open, we are moving on, full-speed ahead. It is exciting and very satisfying for so many of our plans for the Centre to have come to fruition.
The Peartree Centre is a hive of activity, helped by a team of very professional volunteer receptionists. An enormous diversity of people of all ages, cultures and religions attend meetings, events and activities at the Centre, as was our intention. We now feel we can build on this to develop the services offered by the Centre and to integrate them with services of other agencies that have supported us in our aspirations for the future.
To enhance this process, Age Concern Milton Keynes is committed to increasing the skills and knowledge of its staff, ensuring the organisation will produce confident, highly-qualified staff working as an effective and efficient team. To this aim, we intend to work towards the Matrix standard. This will assist in enabling us to achieve our aims and objectives and to provide specialised care and rehabilitation to vulnerable people, through a well-trained
and well-supported working team.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to maintain our enthusiasm in our ventures. We welcome you to The Peartree
Centre to carry on our partnerships and ensure the well-being of future generations of older people in Milton Keynes.
